Privacy policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what you can do about it.

Who I am

This website, aiforculture.com, is run by Jocelyn Burnham, a sole trader based in the UK. I am responsible for the personal information collected through it (the “data controller” under UK data protection law). You can contact me about anything in this policy at jocelyn@aiforculture.com.

What I collect and why

Contact form. When you use the form on the homepage, I receive your first and last name, email address, organisation (if you give it), the topic you choose and your message. I use these to reply to you and, if we go on to work together, to arrange that work. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, or taking steps you have asked for before a contract.

Newsletter (Jocelyn’s AI Lab). If you subscribe, I keep your email address and use it only to send the newsletter. The legal basis is your consent. Every issue explains how to unsubscribe, and you can also email me to be removed at any time.

Booking a call. The “Book a 20-min introduction call” links go to Calendly, which collects your name, email address and any answers you give when booking. Calendly’s own privacy policy applies to that information.

Emailing me. If you email me directly, I keep the correspondence so I can reply and refer back to it.

I do not sell personal information, and I do not use it for advertising.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, so it has no cookie banner. Squarespace, which hosts the site, sets one strictly necessary security cookie. Squarespace’s built-in visitor statistics run in a restricted mode that does not set non-essential cookies.

The contact form and newsletter sign-up use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam. reCAPTCHA sends information about your device and browser to Google.

Videos embedded on this site use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube does not set cookies when the page loads, but may do so once you press play.

Who else handles your information

These services process personal information on my behalf, or when you use them:

  • Squarespace (website hosting, the contact form and newsletter sign-ups)
  • Google Workspace (my email)
  • Calendly (call bookings)
  • Google (reCAPTCHA spam protection, YouTube video embeds and web fonts)

Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where information is transferred outside the UK, they rely on safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

How long I keep it

  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
  • Enquiries and other correspondence: for as long as they are useful for replying to you, for any work we do together, or for future contact about similar work.
  • Records of work we do together: for at least the six years needed for tax and accounting, and after that for as long as they are useful for my business records.

You can ask me to delete your information at any time, and I will do so unless I have to keep it by law.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you, to ask me to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict how I use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To do any of these, email jocelyn@aiforculture.com. I will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
