Sessions at BEYOND Conference
I had an AMAZING time at the first full day of BEYOND Conference, especially being on the 'Right to Remix' panel with Nuala Polo, Guy Gadney, Rishi Coupland and the brilliant chair Martin SFP Bryant.
We talked a lot about the relationship between technology companies and artists, the ethics of current AI training practices, whether an 'opt-out' model for artists is fair, practical or feasible, and how creative professionals can champion their own versions of AI literacy - even if these only strengthen their critical perspectives towards how the technology is being applied.
My favourite part of the day was meeting so many people following the session, learning their thoughts about these issues, and also hearing some of the projects other delegates are involved with around this space. Hugely inspiring (and my voice is starting to go because of it).
This session followed my Fringe talk the day before, 'My Three Most Emotional Moments in AI'.
I hope everyone has a lovely rest of the conference! Otherwise, if anyone would like to catch up with me following BEYOND, please do reach out.
